Quick, Look Over There, Look Over There

Come on now, take a close look at that birth certificate. See if you think it is a fake. Talk to your friends and neighbors. Defend or lambaste the President. Do anything you want, but keep your eye and your mind on that birth certificate, because President Obama does not want you to look at what is happening to our country.

The unemployment numbers are on the rise.

Applications for unemployment benefits jumped 25,000 to a seasonally adjusted 429,000 for the week ending April 23, the Labor Department said Thursday. That's the highest total since late January.

The four-week average of applications, a less volatile measure, rose to 408,500, its third straight rise and the first time it has topped 400,000 in two months.

The GDP is down.

U.S. economic growth slowed more than expected in the first quarter as higher food and gasoline prices dampened consumer spending, and sent a broad measure of inflation rising at its fastest pace in 2-1/2 years.

Military deaths are up in Iraq and Afghanistan. The combat mission in Iraq is supposed to be over, but 9 American troops have been killed there so far this month. In Afghanistan it is worse. 41 American troops have been killed this month, with the last 8 being killed by an Afghan Army officer.

In another ploy to get us to look the other way, the Obama administration labels all Afghan War deaths as NATO deaths first, and will list them as American troops only when the flag-draped coffins are returned to the States.

The ploy with the birth certificate and the calling of battle deaths NATO deaths are used to keep the American people from seeing what is happening in this country. Today, 8.2 million Americans are receiving unemployment checks, with millions more out of benefits. Over 1,000,000 homes are scheduled to be foreclosed on this year.

President Obama will do anything he can to keep the American people from having their eye on the ball. Some call it smoke and mirrors. Others call it spin. I call it lying.
