Bomb Them To Save Them

Tripoli is the capital of Libya. According to the 2006 census, Tripoli has a population of over one million people. NATO, with the help of the United States, has been bombing that city all day long.

(Reuters)—NATO warplanes struck the Libyan capital several times an hour, hour after hour on Tuesday in the most sustained bombardment of Tripoli since the bombing campaign began.

Now when President Obama informed us that he was going to have our military attack Libya two months ago, he said it was to save the lives of innocent civilians. I don't believe there is any way, no matter how careful you think you are, to bomb a huge city with over one million civilians, without killing and maiming a good number of those civilians.

I don't care if you think you are bombing military targets or government buildings, because innocent civilians work at both. Also we do not have perfect weapons nor perfect intelligence that allow us to never miss our intended target.

We know this, and President Obama knows this, but he has decided that bombing a civilian city to save civilian lives makes sense. Somehow, with that perverted way of thinking, there must be a buck to be made by somebody.
